I thoroughly enjoyed this session. I've been on the journey the last few years of recognizing that God does want to use my story, gifts, passions and even my frustrations in my calling. It's easy, however, to stay in my frustrations and become a "butt", but Efrem did a great job of connecting all the dots to encourage us to get a bigger vision for what God has for us. Great Session!
I loved Efrem's statement "Don't have your church/ministry be about "capture and control" with mobilizing people to serve - be about "Equipping and releasing." So often in my experience, and my own human nature of control I must confess, the church opens it's doors to artists but then puts them in a very narrow and controlled box to work within the context of "what we know works for the church" - even in big churches that use the arts very radically and effectivly. If we're doing to say we're "releasing artists" - then we need to truly release them to use their gifts and not conform them to the idea of what we think works or is best. Many of the best groundbreaking artists were the ones that broke all of the rules of "what works" or is popular, and took the freedom to totally be themselves and be unique amongst the crowd.
Mark Miller did a great job of explaining simle ways to be creative. He focused more on the ideas that everybody already knows and explained how to be creative with them. It was very interesting to hear his ideas on something as simple as brain storming and learn simple yet effective ways to change the validity and creativity of church leaders.

I feel like Efrem did a great job at explaining how ministry flows from our Story/Gifts/Passions/Frustrations/Calling .
